The Concert will present nine original works:

SCDC’s artistic director Mary Pat Speno will present “Batucada”, a style of samba and refers to an Aftican influenced Brazilian percussive style, usually performed by an ensemble, known as Bateria.  Batucada is characterized by its repetitive style and fast pace.  A very enjoyable kind of music that makes you want to dance!

Laurie Deyo piece is choreographed to 2 pieces from the movie version soundtrack of the musical Rent. The inspiration is the music and the show itself.  It is modern technique with splashes of jazz throughout.

Christina Battle’s title of the dance is “Acceptance” with music "Brother" by Olafur Arnalds.
It is a modern piece inspired by the different types of love in the world, and it is a statement to finding acceptance and tolerance for that love instead of destroying it.

Triscia David will present “Lessons Learned” a contemporary Modern piece speaking
through movement with dance as the language. You are invited to listen closely to hear the beauty in what is to be spoken. Once you learn to love yourself it is the best form of love one will have. "Believe in yourself and there will come a day when others will have no choice, but to believe with you." - Cynthia Kersey

Caitlin O'Hara will offer the Contemporary Ballet “Evolution”
Evolution captures the stages of a romantic relationship, from beginning to happy end. With music from the likes of Nat "King" Cole, Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublé, the movement is driven by the story told through the lyrics and undertones of the music.

Derek Corbett will choreograph and perform an original high energy tap solo.

Brandon Jones will present a poppin’, lockin’, and breakin” hip hop piece.

Hayley Sunshine, Artistic Director of Converge Dance, will present "Up All Night" with the music: "Get Lucky" performed by Daughter, originally by Daft Punk
